Internet Theorizes Child Trafficking Through Wayfair Site

By: Kandace Kellon

On several different social media platforms, such as Twitter and Tik Tok, many users theorized that Wayfair, a site for online furniture purchases, is secretly part of a child trafficking network. This conspiracy theory first arose from a subreddit account about human trafficking  where a user noticed items on the site priced significantly higher than many of the other similar items. Some of these items such as storage cabinets or throw pillows, had names that were similar to those of children that had gone missing.

CourierDaily examples this through the image above of a throw pillow listed for almost 10,000 dollars on the site. It has the same first name, as a child that had recently gone missing in Michigan.

A representative of Wayfair released a statement regarding the conspiracy, sharing, “There is, of course, no truth to these claims. The products in question are industrial grade cabinets that are accurately priced…” The furniture which seems to be from the company WFX Utility has currently been taken down from the Wayfair website to be evaluated.
