"A Strifeless Life"

By: Christine Nam

A strifeless life

Is it worth it?

Will this be for naught?

With every work submit

Will they get me closer to a yacht?

What’s the point of sitting in front of a computer all-day

If I’ll only end up in a nursing home

Thinking of how I wanted to do ballet

Instead of living in monochrome

Studying all day is not my thing

All to get a diamond ring

To get to a company full of high prestige

Just to wear designer shorts in 15 degrees

Gucci, Prada, Tiffany & Co.

What’s the point of wearing these

Except for show?

If I wear these will I be at ease?

Life is boring

When sitting in a chair

When one could be soaring

But living in a nightmare

The exhausting daily loop

Living off of the little happy moment

Living like a troop

Not knowing between work and enjoyment

Is it shameless of me?

To want to live an easy life

To want to be free

To want to live without strife
